A Perfect Climate for Dairying

The Riverina and Northern Irrigation regions enjoy a true Mediterranean climate, with low humidity and high sunlight hours. The region boasts to have more sunny days than the Gold Coast in Queensland that encourages life in the great outdoors.

The summers are long and dry, whilst winter enjoys clear mild days and crisp nights. To the south, the rainfall is Winter-Spring dominant, whilst as you move north, it becomes more evenly spread throughout the year.

A similar temperature pattern is enjoyed in the Upper Murray and North-East, but Winter temperatures decrease and rainfall increases, as you move into the Alpine Valleys.

Deniliquin, in the north has an annual rainfall of 420 mm with 90 rain days per year, whilst Shepparton has 563 mm and 109 rain days, and Corryong, in the Alpine Valleys, has an annual rainfall of 774 mm and 113 rain days per year.

Melbourne is only 2-3 hours by road or rail to the south, with the region bisected by the Goulburn Valley, Hume, Midland, Northern and Newell Highways and fast train links to Melbourne from Bendigo, Shepparton and Wodonga.
