Dairying for Tomorrow is a national initiative to better manage our natural resources in our changing environment to ensure that Australian dairy farmers are successfully ‘dairying for tomorrow’. The program is led at a national level by Dairy Australia.

All Dairying for Tomorrow projects aim to:

  • Achieve efficient use of natural resources;

  • Help achieve recognition for the dairy industry’s environmental care;

Dairy SAT:

DairySAT is an industry wide tool to assist dairy farmers understand their natural resource management achievements and issues on their farm and can be undertaken as part of an environmental management plan.

DairySAT has an irrigation supplement tailored for irrigation and assists farmers to determine if they are using water efficiently. Additionally DairySAT includes a set of best management practices for reducing greenhouse gas emissions on farm.

Achievements in Natural Resource Management:

Murray Dairy produced a report on the industry’s natural resource achievements. Key achievements include:

  • Large increases in the area of farm land that has undertaken a whole farm plan;
  • Water use efficiencies of up to 90%;
