Murray Dairy Business Forum

People, Profit & Productivity - Murray Dairy Business Forum

Dairy farmers across the region are invited to attend the 2010 Murray Dairy Business Forum - People, Profit and Productivity.  The Free Forum is an example of your dairy service levy at work.

Dairy Australia Chairman, Max Roberts will open the forum which will feature a range of speakers presenting on key issues in the Murray Dairy Region.  The morning Water session will focus on Insights into Water, High Flow Irrigation  What do we know? with Dr Malcolm Gillies and What we need to know? with Malcolm Holm. Roger Wrigley, Consultant & Professional Engineer will present on Industry Understanding Sub Surface Drip Irrigation.

 The Business Management Session includes a Comparative Analysis of EU and Northern Victorian Dairy farms with Maurice Incerti Scholarship recipient Jamie Snell, a Kitchen Table Discussion with Leading Dairy farmers facilitated by Consultant Neil Lane, and ‘Risk Management in the Murray Dairy Region’ with Farmanco Consultant Cameron Smith.

Managing Director, Dairy Australia Ian Halliday will commence the afternoon proceedings which focus on Systems Management.  Dr Martin Auldist, Dairy Nutrition Scientist will discuss Flexible Feeding Systems including Partial Mixed Rations followed by Brian Crockart and Scott Rathbone from CRC Agrisolutions “Striking the Balance – Fine Tuning and Optimising Profit this season”.

The final session looks towards the future of Technology and Technological Issues.  ‘Automatic Milking Systems – do they fit within the Murray Dairy Region?’ will be followed by an Expert Panel on Animal Performance related to Mastitis, Reproduction and Heat Stress chaired by Steve Coats from Dairy Australia.

 Pre-Dinner drinks will commence at 6.30 pm for a 7 pm sit down dinner when key note speaker Sarah Watson from Dairy NZ will pesenting on "Would you employ you? -  Challenges and Solutions Managing People and Relationships within Dairy Businesses.
